An access log is a text file which contains an extensive list of all of the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All the files that were requested in one way or another will be included, so if you have a PHP script program and a site visitor opens just the home page, for example, you may find many files inside the log. The reason is that there are components on the home page that are embedded - parts of other web pages, pictures, etcetera. All of these files will be listed within the access log, so you're able to get a full picture of the way your Internet site works. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are frequently termed "raw data" too. An access log contains the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, along with the user’s IP address, Internet browser and OS. Additional information, including the referrer website, is sometimes provided too. A log file can be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats supplied by your website hosting server.

Access Log Manager in Hosting

Our custom-built Hepsia CP features a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your hosting account and go to this section, you shall find a list of all the domain names and subdomains that you have. All it takes to permit the generation of access logs is to click on a button that will be available next to each domain/subdomain. When the option is enabled, you'll see a download link together with the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your personal computer and view it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective right away, so if you no longer require one, you'll be able to stop it with a click from the exact same section of the CP. You shall still be able to access the already generated content by simply clicking the Download link.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

When you host your websites inside a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you shall have the option to activate or deactivate the generation of access logs with no more than several clicks in your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You will find this function in the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is one click on the On button which you will see there. The feature can be triggered independently for any Internet site regardless of whether it uses a domain name or a subdomain and you will find a full list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with only a click and you may then view it manually or use some software on your computer. The log generation could be stopped by simply switching the On option to Off within the Logs section of your Control Panel.
